Week 8 Review
The night certainly didn't start slow with a goal only 37 seconds into the first game between J+J Auto and Just Red Wings. The goal scored by Peter Meegan and assisted by Kevin Smith lead to a serious of goals from the pair. Kev Hammann followed with a goal of his own tying things up at one which was followed by the second goal from the Meegan/Smith combination wrapping up the first period. Just Red Wings came out blazing in the second with a period sure to keep J+Js defense warm lighting the lamp five times. The only second period goal for J+J came from Earl Ledoux, followed in third with a late effort. Goals from Steve Moran and Marc Cornell showed fight from J+J but they fell short to Just Red Wings 8-4.
James Auto and JNM followed up the early game with a back and forth game up until the last minute. The action started in the first with a goal from Brian Rickard of JNM which Keith Costa of James Auto quickly responded to with a power play goal of his own. The second period followed with a matching pair of goals from Mike Kraskouski (JNM) and Mike Vacher (JA). The real action started in the third when Brian Rickard (JNM) hit for his second and just 12 seconds later his third of the game boosting JNM to a 4-2 lead. James Auto wasn't going down easy following with two quick goals from Jim Pothier and Lee Allison. The drama started when disputed lack of call for delay of game when the net was knocked loose on a JNM scoring opportunity. That scratched chance lead to the putaway goal from Rob Edelman (JA) with just 1:12 left to play. A strong defensive battle from James Auto helped them hold onto that one goal lead ending the nights action with a 5-4 win.
