Last game of the season, Playoffs looming.

March 25, 2021

This is for the young Ms. Murphy.

Last nights games seem to have a playoff atmosphere. Starting with game one. The top two teams James Auto being #1 and JNM Transportation being in the #2 spot. Both teams needed a win or a tie to remain in the spots. In the first James Auto got out ahead with Scott Romiza breaking the ice, from Mike Lombardi and Gerry Provencal. Lombardi would stretch the lead with the same combination, Provental and Romiza getting the apples. JNM finally got on the board to cut the lead in half, with Derek DeCosta getting on the board, with help from Arty Floru and John Malatesta. Later, the 3 forwards would tie it up, again DeCosta on the goal. In the second they skated to a tie. In the third, Jay Arruda would break in from the blue line and collect the rebound from Romiza and the pass from Lombardi. DeCosta would tie it up again and that is the way we would end it. The B line held their own  on both sides by holding the off the competition along with Chris Santiago and Shannon Murphy keeping the goals out. 3-3 tie.

In the second game, Kays was vying for the second spot, which had already been locked by the previous game. While J&J Auto was tooling up for the playoffs. The Meegan brothers would flex their Irish muscle with John Ruggiero quarterbacking the effort. Peter Meegan would start the scoring in this one, with Andy setting him up. Later on Peter would strike again with Ruggiero and John Flynn getting the assists. These forwards would be deadly as John Flynn would cap off the scoring for J&J with Ruggeiro and Meegan on the helpers. Kays couldn't figure out the Goaltending of I am guessing Mark Schaivone, but didn't see him. J&J would take the 3-0 win to finish their season.

In the late game CSMI and Green Goddess would be pitted against one in another. CSMI would put their best foot forward as the combination of Bob Lafredo getting both the goals for maroon. Rob Blais and Brian Salley would assist on both. The Goddess would get goals from 4 different players. Brian Beck would get the first one with Ralph 'MY BOO' Espilat getting the assist. Ralphie would get his second point setting up Andy Morrison for the tie game. Later Gary Meyers would get the goal (and the celebration was epic I am sure). Kenny Beck would get the assist to set him up. Later Espilat would round out the scoring by getting a goal of his own, from Morrison and Brian Beck. And they tie for the 5th and 6th spot in the standings. Green Goddess wins 4-2.

Playoffs start next week with Kay's Playing Green Goddess in the 8:15 slot and J&J will be up against CSMI at 9:20. James Auto and JNM Transportation will be healing up for their playoff games, earning the bye.

I hope everyone has a great week.
