JAMES AUTO 2016-17 CHAMPS!!!

1996 champs!!!!

Once again, a truly compelling tough season fought by all teams.

Final battle with James Auto coming out the victor 2 games to 0 over JNM.

James Auto enlisted the help of  Rob Blais and Mike Lombardi step in for the injured Tom Menouche and Larry (where have you gone?) Smith. Rob scoring a hat trick and an assist, which fed Mike with his goal. JNM just couldn't find their superb offensive attack that got them to the final. They came up with only 4 goals for the 2 games with Brian Becks tenacious stick handling and incredible ability to find the back of the net. It just wasn't enough for the men in green and black to overcome a James Auto team solid as a rock Dee and goaltending. Great stuff!

Yet the real compelling story comes from 2 longtime PGA Players. Both were integral parts to the James Auto path to the championship, Ron ‘Pic’ Picard and John ‘Prendi’ Prendergast.

Ron at the youthful age of 75, who actually helped start this league back in the 60s (I believe he built Mount by himself, brick by brick as well) and has only missed 1 season due to a massive blockage in his heart and avoided a major heart attack. Ron has recovered nicely from his surgery a few years back. As we, who play with him and against him usually find out the hard way. He's good to go!

Prendi, who has played since he 1996 when he took over for an injured Norm Beaudoin and won the PGA Championship (see photo) that year with Ron as a blue liner.

Prendi,  who also came back to our league after a heart attack on the ice at Mount a few years back.(think he's faster now than 96). Prendy relished in his James Auto team victory skating around the rink with the trophy over his head winning his second PGA Championship in 20 years. (that is a 20 year chasm between Championships)

These 2 amazing people, who have gone against all odds, to come back to our league to play the greatest sport on the planet, year after year. To never give up, to be the best they can be, with all humility and conquer their ailments, to play this game again and again. They are a testament to what this game is truly all about. They are a life lesson to be learned by all. So proud to have Ron and Prendy, not only with us and healthy, but playing the sport we all love. Furthermore and more importantly, to be able to call them....My brothers....My teammates....My friends

God Bless

See you at the Rink
