CMSI WINS CHAMPIONSHIP
CMSI recently captured the PGA (Perennial Golden Age) Hockey League championship by sweeping its best-of-three title series with Green Goddess at the Rhode Island Sports Center. CMSI, which posted a 13-8-3 record during the regular season to finish in first place, a game ahead of Green Goddess (12-8-4), skated to a 5-4 win in the first game and a 6-2 victory in the second. In the series opener, John Flynn scored the game-winning goal with 10 seconds left in overtime and Bob Lofredo scored twice to send the game into OT. In the next game, Rob Blais was the player of the game, as he scored three goals and added two assists. The members of the team are, in front from left, Wil Houle, Joe Lofredo, captain Norm Beaudoin, and Rich Laplante; in back, Rob Blais, Charley Golden, John Flynn, Bob Lofredo, Glen Roderigues, Paul Nadeau, and Mike Lombardy. The PGA Hockey League, which is a six-team league for players ages 35 and over, is in action from September to March and celebrated its 62nd season this winter.
